The challenge
Weekly executive reporting for a broadband deployment program depended on spreadsheets, email tables, and enterprise-system extracts with inconsistent formats and definitions. The team lacked a shared, structured reporting foundation.
My contribution
Over approximately three months, I worked alongside the reporting analyst to integrate inputs into a data mart using Power Query. I negotiated consistent formats and definitions with data providers and moved inputs into shared sources, including SharePoint Lists and files in agreed locations.
The approach
I also built tools that helped upstream teams supply better data and automate their own processes. I established the program's Tableau site, created initial visualizations, and trained the analyst to maintain and expand reporting.
Results
The work created the program's first comprehensive data integration and data mart solution, improved processes along the data pipeline, and expanded reporting capabilities. The analyst began editing and extending Tableau reports within weeks. The solution was handed over to the emerging BI team as a foundation for further development.
