The challenge
A manager coordinated monthly rolling forecasts across a large group of project managers. Updates were made in a shared Excel document, with manual coordination, quality checks, and management reporting before consolidation into the wider program forecast.
My contribution
After observing the workflow, I built Access, Excel, and VBA automation that let each project manager retrieve their own project data, update it, and submit it to a shared data store. The coordinating manager could then consolidate submissions, review quality, and request corrections through a repeatable process.
Results
The automation saved the coordinating manager tens of hours each month, improved data quality, and expanded analytical capability. Finalized data was retained in a data mart for historical reporting. Training in Power Query and Access helped the manager investigate the data and use pivot tables and Tableau for analysis.
